Verify Instrument
Instrument Inspector Target
The principle is simple - we need to verify the condition of the instrument and ensure repeatability. This can use the Idealliance ISO12647-7 Control Wedge. This Control Wedge is printed and then scanned to monitor variation with the scanner. This is a temporary procedure since the Control Wedge will change over time. For this reason, you can purchase a T-42 Instrument Target that is reverenced in the ISO compliance documentation which can be used to verify the instrument over time and provide reporting showing the repeatability of the instrument.
ChromaChecker offers two kinds of Targets T-42 (Printed) and CL-36 ( Ceramic). Printed Idealliance ISO12647-7 Control Wedge 2013 Target can't be used for this purpose (it is not designed to cover spectral range and is not printed with required production and post-processing restrictions).
Preparation
- Load measurement data into Instrument Inspector. This is accomplished by either manually uploading the spectral data, Automating with CC Uploader, or using CC Capture software with compatible instruments.
- Use the T-42 target provided in your Starter Kit or Print the Idealliance ISO12647-7 Control Wedge 2013, or H100 targets.
- Evaluate the target visually for any non-uniformities, stains, scratches, or other artifacts. If the target has imperfections, it may provide inaccurate results.

Step by Step
- Create a baseline - measure Control Strip several times - the application will average all measurements (taken in all M-conditions) - then calculate the deviation of each single scan measurement
- Verify instruments to the baseline on a scheduled basis using a target that will not vary over time
- ISO certification requires a T-42 (Printed) or CL-36 ( Ceramic)
