Most of the devices use this fixed Color Specification; however, this is why some substrates, finishes, and post-production generate measurement issues. 

Print Industry, in most cases, has to control not a single color but dozens of samples as production is colorful, and Printers typically use more than one ink. Most of the printers have to render pictures that require Process based on CMYK or ECG (n-CLR) where four, five, six, or more Process primaries are mixed to cover the device gamut. That means needs to capture a huge about of samples in a relatively short time.
